Nancy Haberstich, MS, RN
Nancy is a nurse on a mission to prevent infections! A registered nurse for 46 years, she has been working in infection prevention/control for over 35 years, beginning with 17 years as infection control coordinator at Lincoln General Hospital. Nancy also served as a clinical specialist for a medical products company for four years, consulting with hospitals in 14 U.S. states to reduce catheter acquired urinary tract infections. She was one of the first infection preventionists to achieve APIC certification, and has served on the Certification Board as well as the APIC Board of Directors. Nancy has volunteered as a nurse in Liberia, has consulted with the Canadian Ministry of Health on the SARS epidemic, and created and coordinated a 78-hour training course in Japan for nurses in infection prevention. She operates her own business, Nanobugs, to teach practical microbiology and infection prevention to people of all ages.
